Act 235 and Act 120 Evaluations

Act 235 Lethal Weapons Certifications require a psychological evaluation to determine mental fitness to carry a firearm or lethal weapon. Act 120 certifications are similar, but are completed by police officers or individuals entering the police academy. Both Act 235 and Act 120 evaluations consist of two components: an interview and a personality test. Being open and honest on both components is necessary and individuals being overly defensive or guarded will not pass.

The entire process takes approximately two hours to complete and evaluations are conducted virtually. A computer with a webcam, microphone, and stable internet connection are required (evaluations cannot be completed on a phone or tablet device). Results and required forms are sent out to the appropriate board or authority within 48 hours.
